Maybe you already know you don’t want a traditional wedding.
You don’t want a ballroom filled with hundreds of people. You don’t want months of seating charts, vendor meetings, elaborate timelines, and decisions about details you never really cared about in the first place.
A Gatlinburg elopement sounds more like you.
But if you’ve never attended one, there’s probably another question running through your mind:
What does a Gatlinburg elopement actually look like?
After helping more than 4,000 couples get married in the Smoky Mountains, we can tell you this: it’s probably more relaxed than you’re imagining.
There’s still anticipation. There are still nerves. There are absolutely still emotional moments.
But there doesn’t have to be chaos.
From choosing your location to receiving your finished photographs, here’s what the experience can actually look like.
Elope to the Smoky Mountains in Style
1. It Starts With Choosing the Experience You Want
Before the vows, photographs, mountains, and champagne, there are really just two big decisions to make.
Where do you want to get married?
And:
What do you want the experience to feel like?
Some couples picture themselves exchanging vows beside a peaceful mountain creek. Others can’t imagine getting married without an enormous Smoky Mountain view behind them. Some want to bring their closest family members. Others want the day almost entirely to themselves.
That’s one of our favorite things about elopements: there isn’t one correct version.
Our Gatlinburg elopement packages are designed around different amounts of time and photography coverage, allowing you to choose an experience that fits the day you’re imagining without turning it into something unnecessarily complicated.
Built for Legacy. Fueled by Obsession. Run by Two.
2. You Reserve Your Date
Once you’ve found the experience that feels right, you can submit your reservation online.
We’ll personally verify availability for your requested date, time, and location before your wedding is officially confirmed.
From there, we’ll send your contract and get everything established for your wedding day.
And then something wonderful happens:
You can stop wondering whether you’re actually getting married in the Smokies.
It’s on the calendar.
3. The Planning Doesn’t Take Over Your Life
One of the biggest misconceptions about eloping is that “simple” means figuring everything out yourself.
It shouldn’t.
Once you’re booked with Elope to Gatlinburg, you’ll receive access to the information and planning resources you’ll need as your date approaches.
We’ll help you understand where you’re going, what you need to bring, how the Tennessee marriage license works, and what to expect when the wedding day arrives.
You don’t need a 147-item wedding checklist. You don’t need twelve vendors emailing you.
And you definitely don’t need a color-coded binder thick enough to stop a bullet.
You need the important things handled. That’s the beauty of doing this differently.
4. You Come to Gatlinburg
For many of our couples, the elopement isn’t just the ceremony. It’s the trip.
You might arrive a few days early, check into a mountain cabin, explore downtown Gatlinburg, have dinner overlooking the mountains, or spend the evening doing absolutely nothing beside a fireplace.
There’s no rehearsal dinner you’re obligated to attend. No ballroom that needs decorating. No reception seating chart waiting for one final revision.
You’re here. The mountains are outside. And you’re about to get married.
5. Then the Wedding Day Arrives
This is usually where couples expect things to suddenly become stressful. But one of the best parts of a small Gatlinburg elopement is how normal the hours before your ceremony can feel.
Get ready at your cabin or hotel. Put on some music. Have some coffee. Take your time.
Depending on your package and plans, we’ll meet you at your ceremony location or begin photography as scheduled.
And when you see us, there won’t be any stranger introducing themselves as the person assigned to your wedding that afternoon.
It will be us. Adam and Danielle.
The same husband-and-wife duo behind Elope to Gatlinburg.
Adam will perform your ceremony. Danielle will photograph it.
We don’t outsource your wedding to a rotating roster of officiants and photographers, because we believe knowing who will actually show up matters.
Especially on a day like this.
6. Your Ceremony Can Be Simple Without Feeling Insignificant
This is the part everything else was leading toward.
Maybe you’re standing beside a creek with the sound of water behind you. Maybe you’re overlooking layer after layer of Smoky Mountain ridges. Maybe your closest family members are standing nearby. Or maybe it’s just the two of you!
There doesn’t need to be an elaborate production surrounding the moment for it to matter.
Adam guides you through the ceremony so you don’t have to worry about what comes next or whether you’re standing in exactly the right place.
You get to look where your eyes should be…on each other. Listen. Laugh if something makes you laugh. Cry if that’s where the moment takes you. And actually experience the fact that you’re here and you’re getting married.
That’s it. That’s the point.
Not All Gatlinburg Elopements Are Created Equal
7. And Then You Get to Breathe
You’re married.
No receiving line. No grand entrance into a reception. No coordinator immediately telling you that you’re six minutes behind schedule.
For many of our packages, this is where we transition naturally into portraits.
And this is often when the nerves disappear completely.
The ceremony is over. You’ve said the words. The anticipation is gone.
Now you get to enjoy yourselves.
8. Your Wedding Portraits Shouldn’t Feel Like a Photo Shoot
You don’t need to know what to do with your hands.
You don’t need modeling experience.
And you don’t need to arrive with a Pinterest board containing 74 poses.
That’s our job.
Danielle will guide you when guidance is needed, but the goal isn’t to manufacture an entire gallery of perfectly staged moments.
It’s to create beautiful photographs while leaving room for the two of you to actually interact.
Walk together. Hold each other. Laugh. Take in the view.
Forget about the camera for a minute.
Some of the photographs you’ll love most may come from the moments between the ones you thought were supposed to matter.
9. Afterward, Gatlinburg Is Yours
This is another part of eloping that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough.
When the wedding portion of the day ends, you don’t necessarily have another six hours of scheduled events ahead of you.
You’re married. What happens next can be whatever you want it to be.
Go somewhere incredible for dinner. Walk through downtown Gatlinburg still wearing your wedding clothes. Head back to your cabin and open a bottle of champagne. Sit in a hot tub overlooking the mountains. Order pizza. Take a nap. Seriously.
There’s something wonderfully freeing about realizing that your wedding day doen’t have to be a performance for everyone else.
10. Then You Get to Experience It Again Through Your Photographs
After the wedding, Danielle carefully edits your photographs and prepares your finished gallery.
And this is when you’ll start seeing moments you may not have even realized were happening.
The expression on someone’s face during your vows. The way you looked at each other immediately afterward. The wind catching your dress. The laughter between portraits. The enormous landscape surrounding what felt, in the moment, like a tiny world containing only the two of you.
Your finished, full-resolution photographs are delivered through a private online gallery with a print release, allowing you to download them, share them, and preserve them long after you’ve left the mountains.
Because the ceremony may be simple. The memories shouldn’t be disposable.
So, What Does a Gatlinburg Elopement Actually Look Like?
It looks different for every couple. And that’s exactly what makes it an elopement.
It can look like two people beside a creek. Twenty people gathered on a beautiful wedding day. A quiet cabin in the mountains. A sunset spilling across the ridges of Foothills Parkway.
Tears during the ceremony. Laughter five minutes later. Dirty shoes under an incredible wedding dress. Windblown hair. A little rain. A lot of emotion.
And two people leaving the mountains married.
A Gatlinburg elopement doesn’t have to feel like a smaller version of somebody else’s wedding. It can simply feel like yours.
For more than a decade, we’ve helped couples create intimate weddings here in the Great Smoky Mountains without turning something simple into something complicated.
If that’s what you’re looking for, we’d love to show you what’s possible.

Beautiful Photos!
Such a good experience! They made us feel so comfortable! It was a time filled with smiles and laughs and we felt relaxed and not stressed or worried like so many other people on their wedding day. Plus the photos turned out beautiful! And we got them back quick! Thank you to the both of you for making our special day a great one.
Highly Recommend!
We had a wonderful experience! Adam and Danielle are extraordinarily nice and made the whole process so easy. Our dog is a huge part of our lives and they were wonderful with not only handling him but also included him in our beautiful photos. The private creek side location is stunning and made for a secluded and intimate ceremony. Highly recommend getting married through this company!
Forever Grateful!
We are obsessed with the overall experience going thru this company! Danielle was excellent & made us feel like we’ve all hung out before. Also dealing with one of the windiest days didn’t stop her skills at photography. We couldn’t have asked for or imagined anything else. Honestly five stars isn’t enough! We will forever be grateful for our experience.
